Hellooo 2021!!! I hope you all have had a safe and fun holiday break!
I’ve always had an obsession with NYE/the first day of the year. I’m a sucker for the worldwide hopefulness and motivation that comes along with the beginning of a new trip around the sun. I shamelessly feed into the “new year, new me” posts and challenges year after year when really (and we all know this), there’s no set time, day, or year that should spark the decision to take control of your life and pay attention to your inputs and outputs. But somewhere along the way, we lose sight of the plans and dreams we once had for our new lives. We’re all guilty of it, life happens!! Life literally never stops happening! It gets exhausting at times. Things come along and wreck our plans (yes, I’m talking to you Covid-19). The majority of things in whatever this thing called life is, are out of our control!! Coming to the realization that it is literally impossible to live that perfectly curated life that I have mapped out on Pinterest was so disappointing, LOL. I know how that sounds, but seriously!! Last year looked nothing like I had planned, instead of exploring Machu Picchu in April, I was door dashing around my hometown. So with that being said, what I’m mainly focusing on for 2021 (besides being able to do a perfect pushup.. that’s so embarrassing but whatever) is applying the things I learned in 2020. If we don’t apply the lessons we learned, what’s the point?? Simply stated, I’m surrendering. Surrendering to the idea of what I think my life should look like at 18 and instead looking up to my creator. The one who provides the only source of consistent stability and comfort in this uncertain world. The only words that withstand the test of time are the Lord’s. He promises a life of peace, love, and strength so this year I’m leaning into those promises. His words help me be okay with the unknown and even make friends with it! I don’t think we give the universe enough credit for how chaotic it is!! Who’s to say that tomorrow won’t be the best day of your life?! You might fall in love, you might get that promotion, or who knows you might be blessed with yet another Taylor Swift album! The future being unknown has a negative connotation, but why? It can mean whatever you want it to! We are responsible for the energy that we bring into each space and for 2021 let’s all roll with positivity and a dreamers’ spirit!
Again, thank you guys for reading and all of your kind words, they mean the world!
